                                  Sharing Web Resources
The most recent mail I got from the organization I subscribed to talks about engaging in overt advocacy through supporting existing early learning and child care campaigns or developing campaigns such as the current professional pay for professional work campaign.
The ideas/ statements/ resources that made me think of an issue in a new way is their engagement in conversations around early childhood education and child care policy development, research and practice. The association of early childhood educators Ontario (AECEO) strives to voice the needs, concerns and rights of early childhood educators in these important discussions that have an impact on the work of early childhood educators in Ontario.
The insights I about issues and trends in early childhood field I gained from exploring this website is knowing about how the board members try to attend as many meetings, consultations and community events as possible in order to represent early childhood educators, build partnerships and stay informed on current developments. They also use a variety of written formats to include the voice and needs of early childhood educators in a broader conversations and developments. These items include position papers on specific issues, formal responses to government policy and funding developments that impact the work of early childhood educators, as well as informal responses to public conversations such as letter to the editor.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts –Part 1

Being resourceful and being abreast with development and economic issues as they paten to young children is what is expected of us as early childhood teachers and advocates. As early childhood teachers we should be able to nourish our professional lives by constantly making contacts with others in the profession so that we will be able to give the best to the children and families that are entrusted to us and also have knowledge of issues and trends of early childhood field when we engage people in discussion.
This week I decided to listen to an audio podcast because I did not get any poverty related information from my conversation partners.
The title of the podcast I listened to is changing the world for girls and the participants were Dr Judith N. Walker a co-founder of Development Research and Project sector based in the northern part of Nigeria and Dr Adefunke a lecturer in Tai Solarin University of Education in Nigeria.
Even though poverty is not the actual focus in this discussion but it is related to poverty in a way. They talked about why the girl child don’t go school because of early marriage due to the poor economical statue of some  families, and the moment this girls start having children they cannot go back to school because schools don’t accept  them that way.
Its poverty that makes most parents send their children into early marriage because during this process of negotiation most of the spouses agree to send these little girls to school but after having children there is no more negotiation.

What I learnt from this podcast is that poverty has always been an obstacle that keeps the girl child away from school and it will continue if something is not done to stop it. The insights and information about issues of poverty I believe I got from this podcast is, poverty is not only when someone lacks food to eat or the bare necessities of live, poverty could be lack of information on how to make your life a better one.

                                                          Sharing Web Resources
Learning is what we do constantly in our daily lives, and gathering information in early childhood profession is our culture just to keep us abreast of current happenings. Last week I was able to make contact with Global Fund for Children and I received a confirmation from them immediately and also a newsletter this week. The name of the organization I selected is called The Global Fund for Children and their link is http://www.globalfundforchildren.org.
This organization focuses on giving children the opportunity to grow up healthy and save and also get an education. They achieve this by scouting for organizations that help take care of marginalized children in the world and they also support local community leaders and youths that are involved in taking care of children. They support these local organizations by giving them  money in order to pursue their dreams, grow bigger, get stronger and reach even more children in need.

One of the news from the website that caught my attention is the story of a disabled boy, the story is titled “Redefining Dance (Wheelchair Included): Kostya’s Story. With the support of Global Fund for Children donors AMI-East helps children with disabilities to discover their strengths, build confidence and independence, and show the world that they are worthy of dignity and respect

Getting Ready-E stablishing  Professional contacts and Expanding Resources
My first course in Walden University, I learnt a lot from the professionals on how the rely on their colleagues and mentors, people that are in the early childhood profession with them. I was meant to understand that one should not be comfortable with what he/she knows, but to keep seeking for information on child development and economic issues as regards young children.
I was able to subscribe to Erikson News at EriksonNews@erikson.edu, I kept getting emails from concerning children and early childhood. I guess I was overwhelmed with my school work and learning how to be’ IT’ savvy I did not put much attention to writing to them. The last newsletter I got from them was in September 19 2014.
I visited this website The Global Fund for Children http://.globalfundforchildren.org.  This organization is involved in helping out children and what I like about this organization is approach they use in achieving their goals in helping out children.
Their three main strategies are:
Scout-This  involves their regional experts looking for organizations that that help in taking care of marginalized children in the world and also, local community leaders that are helpful and also community and youth involvement.
Support-They support these groups by giving them small amounts of money the groups in turn help in developing the world by helping the vulnerable children in need.
Strengthen- They strengthen these organizations by organizing   development awards that help organizations to improve their effectiveness.
I have registered with an early childhood organization called Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario Canada and I am hoping to get newsletter from this organization.
